Fitchburg Housing Plan 2026: Next Steps
The City of Fitchburg’s Housing Plan is moving through the review and approval process. The Fitchburg Housing Plan-Final Draft is available for review.
What the Housing Plan Is Intended to Do
The Housing Plan serves as a guiding document to help the City address current and future housing needs. The plan was developed in partnership with Redevelopment Resources, with input from residents, advisory committees, City staff, and community stakeholders.
Identify housing gaps and challenges across a range of housing types and income levels
Establish shared priorities for housing preservation, production, and affordability
Guide future City policies, programs, partnerships, and funding decisions
Support coordination with developers, service providers, and regional partners
Provide a framework for implementing housing strategies over the next several years
The Housing Plan does not approve specific developments or projects. Instead, it provides direction for how the City can make informed decisions and take action to support a diverse, stable, and sustainable housing supply.
